“My big secret? I was supposed to be the Alpha’s fated mate. I just didn’t want anyone to know”
The Shadow Guild universe is continuing, and this time it’s Eve’s turn to be the main character in the Wolf Queen series. Eve has been hiding a BIG secret for her entire time in Guild City. She’s been running around masquerading as a Fae and a potion master, when in reality she is the Fated Mate to the Alpha of the Shifters, Lachlan. After her treatment as a child, she decided she would choose her own fate and ran away from the pack and her destiny. Fate, however, is cruel and decides to throw them together when a string of deaths occurs in the pack and they are the ones who have to solve it.
The familiars have always been one of my favorite parts of the Shadow Guild books, and Ralph is no exception. He’s a raccoon (like Carrow’s familiar Cordelia) and has just as much of an addiction to chocolate as his mistress Eve. Despite his raid of her stash, he does help her a lot in the book (like when Lachlan decides to keep her in the Shifter tower and Ralph brings her the tools necessary to escape). I also really enjoy how interconnected the books in the Shadow Guild universe are, as we get some fun cameos from Carrow and Seraphia in this book. While the books in the Shadow Guild are similar in format (pairing thrown together as the result of Fate and/or Destiny), they still feel very fresh and different. Each couple has very different personalities and interactions. For example, the dynamic between Carrow and Grey and Hades and Seraphia is very different than the dynamic that seems to be developing between Lachlan and Eve.
I’m curious to see what’s next for Eve and Lachlan, especially with the threat of the Dark Moon curse hanging over their heads.
Before becoming a writer, Linsey was an archaeologist who studied shipwrecks in all kinds of water, from the tropics to muddy rivers (and she has a distinct preference for one over the other). After a decade of tromping around in search of old bits of stuff, she settled down to start penning her own adventure novels and is freaking delighted that people seem to like them. Since life is better with a little (or a lot of) magic, she writes urban fantasy and paranormal romance. Click here to learn more about the role of archaeology in her books.
Linsey spends a lot of time in her Facebook group for fantasy and romance readers. If you want to connect, you can click here to join the group. She is not always able to answer personal messages, but she tries her best to get to them :-)
