I was excited to read this series after finishing the Shadow Guild: The Rebel books and I have to say, Linsey Hall did not disappoint. The way she incorporated the myth of Hades and Persephone into this novel is super cool. I’m a huger fan of Greek mythology, and she definitely did it justice. That cover is a work of art too - who knew a lord of the underworld could look so angelic?

Hades and Seraphia have a very different relationship than that of the main couple in her other Shadow Guild series, Carrow and Grey (the Devil of Darkvale). Grey has emotions, he just chooses to ignore them at times when he feels it is best (i.e. when attempting to circumvent the issue of “cursed mates”). Hades is simply emotionless. Until the first time Seraphia touches him, he truly does not feel anything. I hope that over the course of the series we get to see him develop into an emotional being. I really loved how Hall explored Seraphia’s backstory and history more in this book, as readers didn’t get to learn about her in her previous appearances.

About the Author

Before becoming a writer, Linsey was an archaeologist who studied shipwrecks in all kinds of water, from the tropics to muddy rivers (and she has a distinct preference for one over the other). After a decade of tromping around in search of old bits of stuff, she settled down to start penning her own adventure novels and is freaking delighted that people seem to like them. Since life is better with a little (or a lot of) magic, she writes urban fantasy and paranormal romance.  Click here to learn more about the role of archaeology in her books.

Linsey spends a lot of time in her Facebook group for fantasy and romance readers. If you want to connect, you can click here to join the group.  She is not always able to answer personal messages, but she tries her best to get to them :-)
