Fans of The Santa Clause movies and The Christmas Chronicles will surely love SR Kramer’s Secret Santa Society. Kramer gives readers a behind-the-scenes look at Santa’s Christmas operation, and how everything comes together to make one of the most magical days of the year happen. Can two siblings manage to bring a little Christmas magic into their hometown, all without risking the discovery of Santa and his elven helpers?

I loved Kramer’s scene descriptions. The descriptions were so vivid that I felt like I was watching a movie and not reading a book (hence the Christmas movie vibes and comparisons). Some books ask for a certain degree of ‘suspension of disbelief. Kramer never seemed to ask readers to suspend disbelief - instead, the author invites readers to let their inner child run free and embrace the Christmas magic. Once I started reading, I simply couldn’t stop (and ended up losing track of time).

The book had a great balance of emotional scenes versus adventure moments. There was never a moment where I felt like my attention waned. I really enjoyed Aubrey and Ethan’s relationship. So many moments between them were incredibly relatable. For example, as a younger sibling, I am quite used to the older sibling’s tactic of keeping something in their room because they are afraid their younger sibling will lose it. The other characters (like the elves) were quite humorous and entertaining. They all had their own personalities, and that really added to the fun aspect of the story.

Despite the book being aimed at children, I think there’s something for readers of all ages to take away from the story. Readers who are interested in finding a fun holiday read for a child in their life (or even something fun and cheery for themselves) should definitely take a look at Secret Santa Society.

Thank you to the author and Book Sirens for my complimentary review copy. I voluntarily read and reviewed Secret Santa Society; all opinions expressed in the review are my own and not influenced in any way.
